EDT Diecasting Technology (Suzhou) die casts aluminium hard drive brackets for storage and industrial computing equipment. The part is a long thin-wall frame that must combine several mounting hole groups, rail location and stiffness over a long span in one casting, which removes stamped parts and riveting operations from the assembly.
Long thin walls that stay flat — Folded edges and ribs stiffen the long direction, and a straightening step after casting keeps the bracket from bowing.
Dense hole patterns in one shot — Drive mounting holes, locating notches and clearance holes are formed in a single tool, avoiding the stack-up of multiple stamped layers.
Vibration and noise — Seats for damping pads and cable routing space can be designed in to reduce vibration transfer and acoustic noise.
Low weight — Aluminium keeps the bracket lighter than a steel equivalent at the required stiffness, helping overall equipment weight.
Corrosion protection — Sand blasting, painting, e-coating or conductive conversion coating can be applied for internal corrosion resistance and grounding.
For long thin parts, gate position and ejection balance are fixed at tool design stage to limit cold shuts and distortion. After start of production, hole positions and flatness are verified through first-article approval, patrol inspection and CMM sampling. Deburring, tapping and local CNC machining are completed in house so the part arrives ready for assembly.
Used for drive mounting in rack servers, storage systems, industrial PCs and network equipment, and also suitable for other long thin internal structures such as power-supply brackets and board retainers.
