EDT Diecasting Technology (Suzhou) die casts aluminium actuator housings for automotive door lock and actuator suppliers. The housing is a thin-wall part containing a motor cavity, gear cavity, bearing seats and mounting ears, balancing stiffness, sealing and assembly accuracy in a small envelope, typically for safety-related actuators such as automatic safety locks.

Key features

• Thin walls, high stiffness — Ribs and curved transitions stiffen the thin-wall body and damp vibration and noise from the motor and gear train.

• Gear cavity and bearing seats — Gear shaft bores, bearing seats and faces are CNC machined to control centre distance and squareness for smooth mesh.

• Sealing and dust protection — Seal and sealant grooves can be provided on the joint face to keep dust and moisture out inside a door environment.

• Reliable location — Dowel holes, clips and screw bosses are cast in so the two halves close without misalignment.

• Traceability — First-article approval, in-process inspection and batch records support traceability for safety-related automotive parts.

Process and quality control

Dimension chains and sealing dominate quality here. The route covers DFM review, flow simulation, casting, deburring, CNC machining of bearing seats, shaft bores and joint faces, cleaning and inspection. Critical dimensions are verified on CMM and profile projector, and joint faces can be leak tested. The plant is certified to IATF 16949.

Applications

Used in door lock actuators, automatic safety locks, power tailgate and sliding door mechanisms and seat adjustment drives, and also for miniature actuator housings in appliances and industrial equipment.
